Columnar calcite from the Xia Yang Fujian Province, China, grows as tightly packed bundles of elongated crystals—like a miniature forest of calcite pillars all aligned in the same direction. This habit forms in hydrothermal veins, where mineral-rich fluids move through fractures and steadily deposit calcite, favoring growth along a single axis.
In Fujian’s polymetallic mining districts, these conditions create sculptural, almost architectural textures—ranging from silky, fibrous columns to sharply defined parallel prisms. Same CaCO₃, completely different personality,
This piece showcases a rare stacked formation, with layers of heavily included columar calcite between horizontal bands of matrix. Sparkly, highly lustrous, utterly maginificent, and full of incredible details.
Comes with an acrylic adjustable stand (not included in measurements).
- Approximately 15.3 oz (436g)
- Approximately 3.75"x4.4"
All crystals are completely natural unless stated otherwise. As such, there may be natural deviations in color, organic inclusions, points of contact, and other "imperfections" that help make this piece one of Mother Nature's finest. Images are presented without filters and we do not artificially alter the coloring. However, colors may appear differently on different devices and from monitor to monitor.
